Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions.
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.    


Ingredients

  • Peanuts 100 grams

  • Gram flour (besan) 2 tablespoons

  • Garlic 2 large

  • Rice flour 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Garam masala 1/4 teaspoon

  • Baking soda a pinch

  • Oil for deep-frying

  • Chaat masala 1 teaspoon


  • Method

Step 1

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Chop garlic finely and put in a bowl.

Step 2

Add peanuts, gram flour, rice flour, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and baking soda and mix well.

Step 3

Add a little water and mix well. Deep fry these peanuts in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 4

Sprinkle chaat masala and serve hot.
